  1. Hannah was transported back in time to when the Jews and Christians were strongly separated. “Behind her the elegant meal, with its many plates, goblets, glasses, and silverware, was gone. Instead there was a polished table on which a single wooden bowl sat between two ornate silver candlesticks.” (22) Her name is now Chaya which is her Hebrew name and she is living in a Polish village with a family she has never met. She doesn’t know how to get back home. And she starts to worry that her other life was a dream and this is her real life.

  2. The main characters conflict is that she gets separated from her family. Hannah was celebrating Passover with her family and opens the front door and found herself in the time of the Holocaust. I can tell Hannah feels very nervous and scared at the fact she has to deal with what her grandpa had to feel. Hannah doesn’t know what to do and is very scared at what the end result may be. She has no idea where her parents are and or how she got there.

  3. Hannah's problem is that while celebrating passover with her family, she somehow gets transported into the time of the Halocaust. "Behind her the elegant meal, with its many plates, goblets, glasses, and silverware was gone. Instead, there was a polished table on which a single wooden bowl sat between two ornate silver candlesticks. (22). Everybody in the "new world" are now calling her Chaya, which is her hebrew name. She has no idea how to get back home or how she even got here in the first place. Chaya is very scared and nervous.
